How to Install Windows 11 Without a Microsoft Account (Complete Step‑by‑Step Guide)

If you’ve just installed Windows 11 and found yourself forced to sign in with a Microsoft account, you’re not alone. Fortunately, there’s a simple workaround that lets you install Windows 11 without using a Microsoft account—whether you’re on a desktop or laptop.

This guide walks you through the entire process, including the exact command you need to bypass Microsoft’s online account requirement.

Download the Windows 11 ISO

To begin, download the official Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft’s website. You can search for it on Google, or if you’re having trouble, join my Discord community where I’ve shared a direct link:

Once downloaded, you’ll need to create installation media or load the ISO onto a boot tool like Ventoy. If you want to set up Ventoy, I have a full tutorial available on my channel – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kDeOMw7cFs.

Boot Into the Windows 11 Installer

After preparing your boot media:

1. Insert your USB or Ventoy drive.
2. Boot your computer from it.
3. Select the Windows 11 ISO.
4. Choose your language → click Next.
5. Click Install Now.
6. When asked for a product key, select I don’t have a product key.
7. Choose Windows 11 Pro (or your preferred edition).
8. Accept the license agreement.
9. Choose Custom Install.
10. Select the correct drive (avoid installing to your Ventoy drive).

Windows will begin installing and reboot automatically.

Start the Windows 11 Setup (OOBE)

Once Windows restarts, you’ll enter the Out‑Of‑Box Experience (OOBE):

• Select your region
• Select your keyboard layout
• Skip adding a second keyboard

This is where Microsoft tries to force you into using a Microsoft account.

Prevent Windows 11 From Forcing a Microsoft Account

Option 1: Desktop Users (No Wi‑Fi)

Simply unplug your Ethernet cable. Windows will show “I don’t have internet” — click it.

Option 2: Laptop Users (Wi‑Fi Enabled)

You have two choices:

• Disable Wi‑Fi using your laptop’s function keys (e.g., Fn + F2, Fn + F3, etc.)
• OR use the bypass command shown below

Most users will need the command method.

Open Command Prompt During Setup

Press the following keys:

Shift + F10

Shift + F10

⚠️ Laptop users: If your F‑keys are secondary functions (volume, brightness, etc.), you must press:

Fn + Shift + F10

Fn + Shift + F10

This will open a Command Prompt window.

Run the Windows 11 Bypass Command

In the Command Prompt, type the following command exactly:

oobe\bypassnro

Then press Enter.

What this command does:

• Restarts Windows setup
• Forces OOBE to reload without requiring internet
• Prevents Microsoft from forcing an online account
• Allows you to create a local account instead

Windows will reboot automatically.

Complete Setup Without Internet

After rebooting:

1. Select your region again
2. Select your keyboard layout
3. Skip additional keyboards
4. When asked to connect to a network, choose: I don’t have internet

Windows will warn you that you’ll have a “limited experience.” Ignore it and click: Continue with limited setup

Create Your Local Windows Account

Enter your username and password.

You’ll then see Microsoft’s privacy settings. I personally disable all of them, but choose whatever fits your preferences.

Windows will finish setup and boot to the desktop—with no Microsoft account required.

You’re Done!

You now have a fully working Windows 11 installation using a local account only.
